10 Reasons Why Flame Con Is Awesome

2. The Most Crazy After-Party

That after-party.

For the uninitiated, generally 'after-parties' for comic cons tend to occur in the middle of them, with at least one final day of con after them, knowing full well that many attendees and guests will be heading straight home after that final day ends.

Now, it should have been obvious how a Flame Con after party would go given what happened when the lights mysteriously went out in the main room on the Saturday of the convention. Whereas at any other cons you'd hear the murmur of awkward insecurity as people wondered what was going on, instead the Flame Con audience immediately started to turn on cell phone flashlights and, yes, lightsabers and as the music was still working, have an impromptu rave.

So really, it shouldn't have been a surprise to find the after-party so popular that the line to go in went around the block. Or how upon entry, we're treated to a Studio Ghibli-inspired dance number followed by drag queens dressed as a sexy Freddy Kruger and Jason Voorhees lip-syncing to various renditions of 'Sweet Dreams' while a man wearing nothing but a jockstrap twerked on stage.

The party was a wild, creative and sometimes a little depraved cabaret of geekery that culminated in a live performance from RuPaul's Drag Race star and Queen of the Nerds, Dax Exclamationpoint.

And, of course, when it ended the night really wasn't over - at least, if the hangovers of a number of the guests and creators on the Sunday was anything to go by. Flame Con, frankly, has one of the wildest party scenes of any comic con around.
