10 Reasons Why X-Men Are Actually Better Than The Avengers

8. The Avengers Are A Team; The X-Men Are A Family

The Avengers are Earth's Mightiest Heroes, assembled from across the entire Marvel universe to combat threats small and large. They're a team, and like the X-Men have also resided in a mansion together from time to time. That in itself engenders a family dynamic, but the Avengers are brought together out of a common purpose and sometimes even a selection process. The X-Men, on the other hand, don't get to pick their teammates.

Yes, there's a leader who gets to assign specific roles and choose the lead team, but the X-Men are all brought together out of circumstance initially. All face prejudice and hate, all come to form a union seeking liberation from that hate. There are father figures, mentors and mentees, friends and enemies, but it's much more of a family dynamic than what you tend to see in most Avengers books.

This isn't to say that the Avengers don't boast deep, rich, interpersonal relationships either - they do. It's just that the X-Men find solace in one another, and that imparts an altogether different kind of feeling than most other teams do.
