10 Ridiculous Extra Superpowers That Were Phased Out Of The Comics
4. The Flash’s Invisibility
DC Comics isn’t known for holding back when it comes to their
characters’ sets of powers. To a casual observer, the Flash might not seem a likely candidate for DC's brand of power-bending mayhem; he’s just really fast, right? The clue’s in
the name!
In fact, each version of the Flash has a list of lesser-known powers long enough for its own article, all of them a result of his ability to tap into ‘the Speed Force’.
One of the most unfairly advantageous gifts that the Speed Force grants him was seen in the Silver Age, whereby Barry Allen could vibrate his molecules at such a speed to render himself invisible, which he would use to get out of some tight spots.
Of course he can move quicker than the human eye, but to do so while standing on the spot, to avoid being seen changing out of his costume, feels cheap and contrived. He’s powerful enough as it is, without having ¼ of the Fantastic Four’s power on the side.
He can still theoretically do this, but writers have rarely made use of it since the early days.
