10 Saga Moments That Shocked The World
4. Izabel Dies - Saga #38
And speaking of deaths, here is one that marks a definite change in the series; the death of Izabel. Introduced to us in the second issue of the comic, the undead jokester managed to serve as both comic relief and as Hazel's rad teen babysitter - although semi-forcibly, as her soul was bound to Hazel when the girl was a baby.
As a ghost, most fans assumed that the ghoulish gal was pretty much safe from harm - possibly because we all wanted to believe that such a likeable character couldn't possibly pass away, especially after spending such a long time as a key main character.
But naturally, this meant her demise was inevitable, and issue 38 saw it happen in the traditionally painful Saga form. Izabel was stabbed through with a specially designed sword that saw her explode into tiny ghost chunks, reminding us for once and for all that Saga is the comic version of Game of Thrones, and thus no-one is truly safe.
