9. Swamp Thing: The Spread
The first story from 2018’s Cursed Comics Cavalcade was written by Tim Seeley and drawn by Kyle Hotz. Erin Wagner woke up in a thick forest and a friendly dog name Venus greeted her. But as she petted Venus, it disintegrated into old roots and dead tree matter, and the trees began to attack her. In reality, Wagner’s assistant was trying to wake the young doctor up.
Swamp Thing arrives and pinned the assistant to the wall with his vines, telling him to trust him. Holland caused anti-fungal grasses to grow from Erin's orifices from the natural flora in her body. Meanwhile, within the Green, Swamp Thing had arrived to deal with Wagner and Dutch, a protector that she conjured from her memories.
The hero revealed that Erin is a botanist and she created a genetically modified yeast that would turn human cells into plant fiber that was able to live on sunlight alone. Dr. Wagner tested it on herself. It should have killed her but it mutated and now it was turning plants into bone and blood. It could have completely destroyed the Green were it not for Swamp Thing's intervention. Holland destroyed the lab and carried the doctor with him, telling her assistant that he saved her in a way that no one did for him and that he saved the Green from her.
