10 Sci-Fi Movies That Deserve A Sequel
4. Children Of Men
From one dystopian setting to another. Children of Men is highly regarded by both critics and audiences. Unlike Akira and Blade Runner before it, the film takes a more grounded take on the end of the world with a story that feels eerily plausible.
In a very bleak take on 2027, humanity has gone eighteen years with no natural births. With no children in sight, the rest of humanity is slowly dying off, with society trudging to the brink of collapse. For Alfonso CuarĂ³n's first effort into science fiction, he knocked it out of the park.
Not only is the film a masterwork in dystopian narratives, it also features some white-knuckled action that's often shot in one uninterrupted take. All the colour is sucked out of this broken world and the intense grief that plagues every location of the broken UK is conveyed with vivid detail.
Children of Men was massively ahead of its time in so many ways, so it would stand to reason that a sequel could be just as groundbreaking.
