10 Secrets Of Neil Gaiman’s Death Of The Endless

7. Virtually Omnipotent, But Bound By Rules

Sandman Death
DC Comics

There is very little that Death cannot do. She is one of the most powerful beings in the universe. Only certain higher-order beings surpass her power. She is arguably the most powerful member of the Endless. Death was able to stop the Furies simply by raising her voice.

She has a total mastery of magic, can appear in any form, is immortal, has incalculable strength and speed, and can teleport anywhere instantly to the side of a dying being. This is just the beginning of a laundry list of powers and abilities that Death possesses. The levels of most of her powers defy classification. Despite this, even Death has some rules that she cannot break.

Death cannot draw blood from a family member lest she loses the protection as the personification of Death from other personifications. She is also not allowed to collect certain higher-order beings that outclass her in power, like Lucifer Morningstar. Additionally, none of the Endless are allowed to enter a crypt within the Necropolis Litharge that holds their funeral garbs. She can create an envoy from an inanimate object like mud and give it life. As she did to retrieve the funeral garbs for Morpheus.
