7. Batman Refused To Save Ra's Al Ghul At The End Of Batman Begins

Batman got a cinematic reboot with Christopher Nolan's Batman Begins in 2005. That film followed Bruce Wayne as he developed his mind and body into becoming the superhero vigilante Batman, and it wasn't easy. He made his way to the League of Shadows, nearly dying in the process, but he found salvation in Ra's al Ghul.

Bruce refused to kill a man, and the resulting fight left the LoS in ruins, and his mentor, Henri Ducard, is nearly killed. He saved him and returned to Gotham City to reclaim his place in Gotham society while establishing himself as the Dark Knight.

By the end of the movie, Ducard revealed that he was Ra's al Ghul all along, and he torches Wayne Manor. Later, his plan to destroy the city nearly comes to fruition as a microwave device is sent via an elevated train towards Gotham's central hub, but Batman intervenes.

The two fight one another, and in the end, Batman stands victorious over his foe. He says to him, "I won't kill you... but I don't have to save you." In that moment, he could have saved his life — instead, he doesn't help him, resulting in his death when the train crashes.
