Darkseid has caused trouble for the likes of Superman and the Justice League for years - and it's not just because he can smack Superman and his allies around like proverbial rag dolls. Of course, Darkseid is incredibly powerful - which always helps a villain. He is ludicrously superhumanly strong and durable, possesses incomparable stamina, is telepathic and telekinetic, is able to teleport himself and others across vast distances, is effectively immortal and possesses the insanely powerful Omega Beams - an ability which stems from a cosmic energy source called the "Omega Effect" and which manifests as a powerful blast of energy from his eyes which, upon contact which its target, completely wipes them from existence. Darkseid has absolute pinpoint control and perfect aim over the beams, which allows them to travel in straight lines, right angles, or curve around corners. They can also pass through matter and energy in order to reach their targets. However, the lord of the New Gods of Apokolips is also incredibly intelligent. He has created a load of advanced technology, including a device that can teleport entire locations - even planets - across galaxies. He is also an incredible manipulator. He can have people do work for him without the need to issue threats, just by way of his cunning, and he can turn people against each other in the same way. Most importantly, Darkseid also figured out the Anti-Life Equation - a formula for total control over the minds of sentient beings and one of the most bizarre, unfathomable and abstract concepts in DC comics - which is an incredible feat of genius and one that, on its own, is enough to warrant a place on this list.
