10 Spider-Man Fates Worse Than Death

6. Being Hunted Down And Having Your Eye Eaten In Front Of You

Every so often, Spider-Man's life goes through hell. It's just the nature of being Spider-Man, but also, it has a lot to do with shaking up the series with a new artist/writer team. One of the worst things to ever happen to Peter Parker involved his interaction with Morlun.

In "The Other," Spider-Man finds himself being hunted by Morlun, a being from Earth-001 who hunts Spider-Totems across Marvel's Multiverse. He's insanely powerful, and thanks to his penchant for subsisting on Spider-Totems, his strength and power only ever increase, making him into a seemingly immortal god.

When Peter went up against him, it was an all-out fight that took the pair across New York City. This was over, through, and under buildings, and it was intense. Think of every fight Spider-Man has ever been in and multiply it by an inconceivably high number, and you have his fight with Morlun.

Unfortunately, while it took everything Peter had, Morlun was barely phased by their battle. At its end, he walked up to his adversary and casually plucked out his eye. He then ate it in front of the defeated and demoralized Spider-Man. Losing an eye is one thing — having your enemy pluck it out and eat it in front of you is something else entirely.
