10 Spider-Man Graphic Novels You Must Read Before You Die

7. Ends Of The Earth

Spider Man Death Of Jean Dewolff
Marvel Comics

When a dying Doctor Octopus realizes he is running out of time, he and the other members of the Sinister Six conjure up a plot to hold the world to ransom. This involves using satellites to speed up global warming and for the meagre price of twelve billion dollars, Doc Ock will happily save the planet, basically so he will always be known as the man who "gave you the greatest gift of all... a future."

Written by Dan Slott and illustrated by Stefano Caselli, this 2012 comic sees Spidey team up with Black Widow and Silver Sable in an attempt to thwart Otto Octavius' most insane plan to date. With the help of none other than Mysterio, who Peter manages to convince to turncoat by pointing out the fact that two billion dollars won't be worth jack if the Earth is dead, as well as a sparkly new spider suit, the Web-Slinger and co save the day and seal the good Doctor's fate.

One of the more important books in his recent history, this would sew the seeds for the criminally underrated Superior Spider-Man which would see Doctor Octopus return in Peter Parker's body.
