10 Spider-Man Sidekicks Everyone Forgets

6. Spinneret

Mary Jane Watson-Parker from Earth-18119 (the same as Spiderling) doesn't have any superpowers, but she does swing on webbing just like her daughter and husband. She manages to do this thanks to her husband's brilliant mind, and the Empire Unlimited Test Suit he had after they defeated the Regent.

The suit was adapted to tap into Peter's own superpowers, and give them to whoever wore it. Mary Jane put on the suit, and became Spinneret, though, she has the same superpowers as her husband. Unfortunately, there is a drawback to using the suit, as it saps Pete's own power levels to work.

When they are in close proximity to one another, the power drain is much worse, but this hasn't stopped them from working together. While they may be equal in marriage, Spinneret is definitely a sidekick to Spider-Man, seeing as he has a wealth of experience in excess of her own.

To counter the power drain the suit had on her husband, she took a biotechnological suit from Liz Allen, without realising it was the Venom symbiote.

Venom tried to take over her body to kill Spider-Man, but the two managed to defeat the symbiote's will, and Mary Jane assumed complete control over the symbiote, gaining its power.
