In an alternate world, Frank takes his family out to the park, but instead of a gang war killing them, a battle between superpowered heroes and villains breaks out, and they get killed in the crossfire.

This one difference is the start of the incredibly interesting storyline: Punisher Kills the Marvel Universe, where Frank goes after every superpowered person around.

It really showed Castle's mercilessness, as he brutally ends many beloved heroes in unique and violent ways. Spider-Man, Hulk, Wolverine (multiple times), and Daredevil were just a few of the people on his hit list, as no one was safe from his wrath. He even killed Doctor Doom, that's how crazy this got.

This story later inspired the Deadpool Kills the Marvel Universe story, which itself spawned two sequel storylines, and even a more tragic reboot of it. And all that mileage came from one comic book of Frank losing his mind more than usual.
