10 Superhero Comic Deaths (That Didn't Mean Anything)

2. Batman

Grant Morrison is a wonderful comic book writer. He has written amazing stories within the comic book world, one of which is Final Crisis. During this event, Darkseid has acquired the Anti-life equation and is essentially conquering the world, one person and superhero at a time. Superman is off-world, there are few heroes left and Batman is imprisoned. Don€™t count Batman out, just yet. Toward the end of the event, Bruce/Batman resurfaces, confronting Darkseid with a gun. Naturally, this gun holds a special, god-killing bullet within it. Darkseid taunts Bats, saying he would never fire a gun. In an act of true heroism, Batman breaks his €œno guns€ vow and fires it, mortally wounding Darkseid and effectively saving the world. Batman, though, dies at the end of Darkseid€™s Omega Sanction (his eye-beams). Batman saved the day, but his life was lost. Or was it? Bruce was actually sent back in time, traveling through the ages, trying to recover himself and make his way back home. Meanwhile, Dick Grayson, AKA Nightwing, took over the cowl and became the Dark Knight. So, Dick Grayson was Batman while Bruce Wayne hitchhiked through time. Though he was making a return, the Omega Sanction was building up energy, ready to explode the second Bruce found his way to the present. Bruce, being the world's greatest detective, figured out how to prevent the explosion and the day was saved, again. Bruce came back. He defeated Darkseid, made his way through time and found his way to the present. He put on the suit again and became the Batman. But what about Dick Grayson? What about the amazing character development with Dick and Damian Wayne? What about the fantastic stories dealing with the fallout of Bruce and the evolution of the former Nightwing? Eh, it just went away.
