10 Superhero Comic Deaths (That Didn't Mean Anything)
9. Nightcrawler
Nightcrawler has always been a fan-favourite X-Man. He was well-rounded, had a great visual appeal and rocked some very cool teleportation powers. He was always the voice of reason for the mutants, always tugging at their morals, questioning their path and, occasionally, guiding them spiritually. Nightcrawler died at the hands of Bastion (a super-Sentinel created by merging a future mutant-killing-machine with the Sentinel Master Mold), trying to save Hope, the first born mutant after the events of House of M. He died fighting and believing that his cause was just, and that his death brought hope (no pun intended) and salvation to his race of evolved super-beings. It was a great moment, and a fantastic portrayal of sacrifice. It did not last. Nightcrawler leapt into the pages of Astonishing X-Men recently. He was stuck in Limbo, and it was up to the X-Men to save him, as well as defeat the villainous Azazel. Yep. Thats the story. It would have made a bigger impact in the mutant world if the blue dwarf remained dead; a symbol of struggle and victory for mutant-kind. But instead Limbo.
