10 Superheroes Who Are Too Arrogant For Their Own Good
7. Hal Jordan
One of the prerequisites to be a Green Lantern is being able to overcome fear, and thats something that Hal Jordan has been able to do time and time again. Though there are thousands of Green Lanterns in the universe, Hal Jordan is often considered the greatest of them all. However, being great doesnt mean youre infallible. Hals headstrong nature has repeatedly drawn the ire of the Guardians of the Universe, and despite their insistence that the Green Lanterns remain logical, Hals emotions have clouded his judgement on multiple occasions, which has caused him to make reckless decisions. Of all the Justice League members, Hal is often the one who will fly in without an attack plan, much to the chagrin of Batman, whose shadowy ways dont work well with Hals bright light. In Hals eyes, the ring on his finger is all thats needed to take down evil. Planning is secondary. In recent years, Hal has taken a leadership role during the many DC crises, and is now the leader of the Green Lantern Corps in the current comics, but that arrogant side of him is still there. After the fight with Relic, it was implied (but not confirmed) that there is a limit to the emotional spectrum reservoir. Although he allows the Green Lanterns to continue using their willpower, he attempts to forbid others from using the rest of the spectrum. This eventually leads to much of the universe revolting against the Corps (in part due to the shape-shifting Durlans). Hal may be in charge, but he still has a lot to learn.
