10 Superheroes Screwed Over By Reboots
6. The Avengers
Hey you know that picture Rob Liefeld drew of Captain America? You know, the side profile one where his chest is twice the width of his head and everything just looks off and horrible? You ever wonder under what idiotic circumstances that would let Liefeld make that accursed abomination?
Well I got the answer, but you ain't gonna like it.
After the event in which Onslaught murdered both The Avengers and the Fantastic Four, Marvel revived and rebooted their entire line with a new creative team, made up exclusively of writers and artists that had left Marvel for Image Comics earlier in the decade.
While some of them worked, like the reboot of the X-Men, others like Avengers: Heroes Reborn were unmitigated disasters, with the Avengers book in particular being one of the worst books in the team's entire decades spanning lifespan to this day.
It isn't hard to see why the book sucked, seeing as how it was the pinnacle of nineties excess for Marvel, and long after said excess began to lose favor with audiences.
