10 Superpowers You Didn't Know The Fantastic Four Have

3. The Thing Doesn't Age

The Thing
Marvel Comics

When Benjamin Grimm was exposed to cosmic rays, he was transmogrified into a rocky monster called The Thing. Endowed with superstrength and durability, the Ever-Lovin' Blue-Eyed Thing is seen as the powerhouse and the literal rock of the Fantastic Four.

Although his brute strength has come in handy during the team's adventures over the years, Ben has never come to terms with his appearance and regularly struggles with depression. For years, his best friend, Reed Richards, vowed to find a cure to return Ben's appearance to normal.

After many years, Reed succeeded... kinda. His faculty created a serum which can revert Ben's appearance to normal for one week per year. Through this breakthrough, Reed discovered an ability Ben has secretly harboured for years.

When Reed travelled 3,000 years in the future, he noticed Ben was still alive. Only then did Reed realise that Ben does not age while in his rocky form. Based on this logic, Reed deduced that his friend had aged nearly fifty-eight years in three millennium. However, if Ben chooses not to return to his human form, he can never die of old age.
