10 Supervillain Replacements That Outshone The Originals

Baron Zemo is a Marvel supervillain who first appeared in The Avengers during the 60s. A Nazi and the founder of the Masters of Evil, Heinrich Zemo is considered one of the greatest Captain America villains and is responsible for the death of Bucky Barnes.

His legacy would then continue with his son, Helmut, who would be a more morally gray version of the character.

While Heinrich was killed early during his tenure as Baron Zemo, Helmut would become a recurring character in the Marvel 616 Universe. He initially set out to avenge his father by taking on Captain America but circumstances would lead him to renounce his father's ways and carve his own path as the supervillain.

This is best seen in the original Thunderbolts storyline where Zemo, along with a handful of others, masquerade as superheroes who manage to actually do some genuine good. Unlike his father, Helmut is a well-intentioned extremist - vowing to take over the world for its own betterment and believing that humanity has to be made to improve.
