10 Supervillain Replacements That Outshone The Originals

7. Carol Ferris - Star Sapphire

Green Goblin Harry Osborn
DC Comics

Though now known as a character from the Green Lantern mythos, Star Sapphire initially debuted in The Flash during the Golden Age of Comics. She claimed to be a queen from the 7th Dimension and attempted to conquer the Earth by destroying all plant life.

She'd later be retconned into the Queen of the Zamarons who was banished due to her unworthiness.

The Star Sapphire character would then return in the Silver Age of Comics, this time as a new character, Carol Ferris. As Hal Jordan AKA Green Lantern's love interest, their romance becomes complicated when the Zamarons crown her as the new Star Sapphire. This added a new layer of drama with the character as the two lovers would often cross paths and duel one another. Sadly, Jordan and Ferris would separate with the latter being engaged to another.

Carol would be the definitive version of the character and would return in every major continuity reboot from DC. She has been a mainstay in the Green Lantern storyline and her relationship with Hal Jordan remains the best among DC's love stories.
