10 Supervillain Replacements That Outshone The Originals

5. Barbara Minerva - Cheetah

Green Goblin Harry Osborn
DC Comics

The Cheetah is Wonder Woman's most iconic foe and has appeared in the comics since 1943.

In the Golden Age, the character was Priscilla Rich - an aristocratic young woman who dons a Cheetah costume and battles our heroine time and time again. Despite having no superpowers, Rich would be a throne on the Amazon Princess' side yet eventually dies from illness.

Years later, Priscilla's niece, Deborah Domaine would take over the mantle, having the same attributes as her predecessor.

But after Crisis on Infinite Earths changed the DC Universe forever, we would then be introduced to Dr. Barbara Minerva who would become arguably the definitive version of the supervillain.

A wealthy archeologist, she forces an African tribe to perform a ritual on her, one that will grant her powers beyond human capacity. This turns her into the new Cheetah - now sporting orange skin, black spots, a tail, and supernatural strength and reflexes. And though the ritual partially backfires as it leaves her weakened in her human form, this version of the Cheetah would be the first to match Wonder Woman physically.
