10 Surprising Comic Book Crossovers That Somehow Work
9. DC/Looney Tunes
Warner Bros. have owned DC Comics since the early nineties, and the Looney Tunes since forever, and yet it's only recently that they've decided to put two and two together by putting both in their own comics opposite each other.
DC have also done the same with Hannah Barbera, but it's the stuff involving WB's Merry Melodies that has managed to catch the eye. The likes of Yosemite Sam, Sylvester the Cat and the Tasmanian Devil have all starred in tales next to DC's biggest heroes, but perhaps the best example of why the concept works so well came in Tom King and Lee Weeks' Batman/Elmer Fudd story, which reimagined the wascally hunter as a villain from Gotham City.
It works so well - maybe even too well - but it's the kind of idea that makes you stop and think as to why, exactly, DC had never done it before.
The fact Fudd slots so effortlessly into Batman's world is an achievement in and of itself, but the story King crafts with Weeks makes it all even better.
