Harley Quinn’s obsession with the Joker goes to a whole new level. When she hears that he may be dead and that his face was removed by the Dollmaker, she abandons the Suicide Squad and runs to Gotham City. In Suicide Squad Vol. 4 # 7, Amanda Waller sent the Squad to Gotham and used the illusionary powers of Light and Lime to make King Shark look like Clayface while Deadshot and Savant infiltrated the Gotham Police Station.

While Harley is on her way to the evidence room to retrieve Joker’s face, she remembers her time as a psychiatrist at Arkham Asylum when she aided the Joker in his escape. At GCPD, Savant cornered Harley in the holding cells and they fought. She traps him in a cell on a pressure mine and told him to enjoy his stay. Outside, Light and Lime’s illusion broke down. King Shark and Waller exploded the nanobomb in Lime’s head for revealing the Squad’s existence.

Inside, Deadshot awakens tied to a chair. Harley stretches Joker’s severed face over his and demands to know why he left her, stating how she loved him. Deadshot/Joker said that he must prove it by killing the distractions in Batman’s life. She said that she knew Joker would return to her, just as Deadshot shot her in the stomach.
