10 Terrifying Comic Supervillains (Who Only Appear Once)

7. The Mutant Leader

Batman Thomas Martha Wayne Flashpoint
DC Comics

The Mutant Leader was a hulking mass of feral energy. He was stronger, and faster than the Dark Knight when the two met and battled in a junkyard.

At this point, Batman had retired and was nearing his twilight years. Conversely, the Mutant Leader was in his prime. Still, Batman managed to subdue him with the help of a new Robin. However, he suffered severe injuries. The Mutant Leader had beaten Batman and nearly killed him before Robin’s intervention.

The Mutant Leader enjoyed cult-like worship among his followers. While he was locked up, his gang continued to ravage the streets of Gotham. The Leader was even able to kill and partially eat the Mayor of Gotham while incarcerated. Batman knew he had to truly beat the Leader to stop the crime wave sweeping over Gotham.

So, Batman engineered the Mutant’s escape from jail and lured him into a trap in the form of a mud pit. Slowed down by the mud, and witnessed by his entire gang, the Mutant Leader was soundly beaten by the ageing, but still sharp, Batman.

The Mutant Leader was not only physically imposing, but with the help of his gang he was a true threat to Gotham and to Batman. It’s too bad we only saw him once.
