10 Things DC Wants You To Forget About Wonder Woman

6. That Failed TV Pilot

Wonder Woman TV Pilot
NBC

When Wonder Woman was announced as a movie, the excitement was tangible. Gal Gadot€™'s a good actress, a female superhero movie has been a long time coming, and Wonder Woman especially has long since been in need of a cinematic outing. Especially considering the fate of most of her small-screen ventures.

As recently as 2011 there was an attempt at launching a new Wonder Woman TV series on NBC, with a pilot episode produced where the eponymous heroine was played by Adrianne Palicki, written by David E Kelley and directed by Jeffrey Reiner. That the show was not picked up by NBC, a channel which recently aired a full season of a show about a monkey doctor called Animal Hospital, speaks volumes. Veteran TV critic Alan Sepinwall described the pilot as "embarrassing€ when he finally got to see it, claiming it €œwas all I had feared, and more."

Fans already has a lukewarm reception to the redesigned costume that saw Palicki clad in a red bustier and tight blue trousers, which turned out to be symptomatic of larger problems. There'€™s not a great chance the pilot will every be widely released.
