When Star-Lord had a battle with the former Herald of Galactus known as the Fallen One, a lot of damage was caused to both him and his equipment. His Element Gun, suit and "Ship" (the actual name of his starship at the time) were all destroyed and the hero himself suffered some very severe injuries. As a result, he was grafted with cybernetic implants by doctors on the prison known as as Kyln, where he had been kept incarcerated. His new parts included an eye implant that allowed him to see all energy spectra and a memory chip in his brain that gave him 100% total recall. They have since been removed, however, on the Kree world of Aladon Prime. He was, instead, outfitted with a Kree-issued heat-dampening espionage battle-suit, which went on to become the uniform look for the Guardians of the Galaxy as a team. He was also given a battle helmet and a universal translator and he still uses all of that equipment.
