10 Things Everyone Always Forgets About Daredevil

9. His Identity Crisis

It can be said that Matt Murdock has never had a particularly easy time juggling his life as a lawyer and a costumed vigilante, but it was easier when those identities were seen as separate people. Most people think it is impossible that a blind man could be a costumed vigilante, and that works to Murdock’s favor for the most part. But in two instances, Matt’s Daredevil identity has been “outed” in the press to different outcomes.

The first time a tabloid newspaper made Daredevil's identity known, DD faked the death of Matt Murdock and took the identity of street hustler Jack Batlin. He continued to fight crime as Daredevil but took on an armored outfit and a meaner demeanor. After clearing up the rumors and making a “miraculous resurrection”, Murdock joined Foggy and his mother, Rosalind Sharpe, in a law firm together for a short time.

When the Guardian Devil's identity was later outed by a newspaper again in Daredevil #31, he vehemently fought it and sued the outlet. He also hired Luke Cage and Jessica Jones as his bodyguards, in case anyone tried to attack the “helpless” blind lawyer. After Matt aided them against their father, the Purple Man’s Children removed the identity of Daredevil from everyone on Earth.
