Matt Murdock is more than just a blind man in a horn-headed mask. He is one of the most psychologically complex and interesting characters in comics today. Daredevil has an indomitable will and determination. He absolutely refuses to give up, even when the odds seem insurmountable. Murdock is one of the few people with the strength of will to resist the powers of Zebediah Kilgrave, the Purple Man.

Daredevil is well known by the nickname “The Man Without Fear”. Matt is a mortal human being, so, of course, he feels fear. But through training and experience, he has developed a detached ability to feel emotions, including fear. This ability also makes him immune to toxins and spells that are meant to elicit fear.

In Daredevil #1, he was a more snarky, quip-throwing hero in the vein of Spider-Man, but the sheer enormity of the strife and hardship that have befallen Matt has turned him into a more serious and even grim hero. Murdock has shown that he is not above being aggressive and ruthless when he needs information from his opponents. Matt has also suffered from clinical depression and the desire to quit his double life on multiple occasions.
