10 Things Everyone Always Forgets About Daredevil

2. Matt Murdock, Master Of The Martial Arts

Daredevil Prison
Marvel Comics

There is a misconception that Daredevil is a common street fighter who relies mostly on the boxing skills of his late father or a fighter that would be lost without his billy club and its various weapon configurations. While he is highly skilled at both, the reality couldn’t be further from the truth.

Matt Murdock was heavily and extensively trained by Stick when he was under his guardianship. Stick is a senior grandmaster and leader of the Chaste, a secret ninja order. The Devil’s fighting style is a fusion of Aikido, Aiki-Jujutsu, Boxing, Capoeira, Eskrima, Greco-Roman Wrestling, Jiu-jitsu, Judo, Karate, Krav Maga, Kung Fu, Savate, Silat, and Taekwondo. Stick rates him as a 10th-degree black belt in ninjutsu.

Nick Fury has stated that there are few people on the planet that know what Matt knows. He is well versed in human anatomy, pressure points, and how to cause pain with minimal effort. He has disabled eyesight and speech, has immobilized limbs, or stopped a person's entire body from moving. Daredevil is also highly skilled in the ninja skills of stealth and vanishing.

The Guardian Devil has fought many of the world’s most highly skilled martial artists to a standstill, including Black Panther, Captain America, Deadpool, Iron Fist, Karnak, Sabretooth, Taskmaster, and the Winter Soldier. In Wolverine #24, Matt impaled a Hydra-brainwashed and feral Wolverine with a sword.
