Of all the aspects of Bane that you can tell a lot from visually, Osito - the teddy bear Bane has had since childhood - is perhaps the most important. Bane still having the small toy is often considered something of a joke, as seeing a hulking bodybuilder carrying a stuffed animal does provide a pretty weird contrast.

But the toy serves a far more profound purpose. For a huge hulking dude with murderous intentions, Bane's continued carrying of Osito is telling in terms of him still carrying a torch for the innocent - a symbol of the small glimmer of hope that carried the man through the hostile environment he was brought up in.
