10 Things Everyone Always Gets Wrong About Deadpool

4. He Can't Be Killed

While Deadpool's ability to regenerate is not only hugely powerful but rapid too, it does have some limitations.

In X-Men Origins: Wolverine, the climactic battle is over when Deadpool is decapitated. It’s commonly recognised that this depiction of the Merc With A Mouth was completely flawed, not least because they inexplicably decided to sew his mouth shut, but at least they got one thing right. In a post credits reveal, the head of the mutant formerly known as Deadpool is found, still alive.

Decapitation is not enough to kill him, that’s true, but other means have proven effective. Wolverine is on record saying 12 minutes without oxygen can send him off on the long sleep, so something as tame as suffocation can do the job. Considering he’s narrowly escaped being cooked by Carnage previously, being choked would be an anticlimactic way to go out.

Once upon a time, he’d been cursed with immortality by Thanos, though that’s not longer true in the current canon. This is most likely the source of this misconception though, and makes it one of the most understandable entries here.
