10 Things Everyone Always Gets Wrong About Robin

5. Only Dick Grayson Quit Being Robin

There are two almost-universal facts about Robins that even someone who's not really read comics knows: Jason Todd dies and Dick Grayson leaves Batman.

Dick Grayson leaving to go off to college in Batman #217 would lead him into becoming arguably more iconic as Nightwing, but not many realize that EVERY Robin has left the nest to become their own hero at one point.

Dick became Nightwing, and would inherit the Batman cowl after Bruce Wayne's "death" in Final Crisis. Jason Todd would recover from his death thanks to Superboy-Prime punching the multiverse and fracturing it, resurrecting him as the new Red Hood. Tim Drake would become the cowled Red Robin as he searched for Bruce, emulating Batman's style as he searched for evidence that Bruce was alive.

Stephanie Brown, who started her career as Spoiler, and would also have a strange shelf-life after dying, would return as Batgirl, with a really sweet black and purple costume. Even Damian Wayne, who's run as Robin has coincided with several massive shifts to the Bat-franchise and the DC Universe as a whole, began calling himself Redbird when acting against Batman's wishes.

While they are always considered sidekicks, each Robin has graduated to being their own hero at various times!
