10 Things Everyone Always Gets Wrong About Wonder Woman

10. The Invisible Jet Is Silly

Warner Bros. TelevisionWarner Bros. TelevisionRight, so people may have a point here. This is the only concession we're going to make to these wrong-thinkers, because it does have a basis in logic. What good is an invisible jet? Well, at first it was a little more impressive than that. Especially because, originally, Wonder Woman couldn't fly - so the plane was much more necessary. It was also allegorical, as it represented the need for women in Depression Era America to "fly under the radar" to survive in male-dominated workplaces. And what's better as an allegory than a huge flying plane? As the years went by the plane turned into more of a stealth fighter. This evolution coincided with Diana's power set increasing to the point that she could fly without it, but she kept hold of the invisible jet regardless. Which is pretty silly, right? Since then the history has been retconned so the plane wasn't an invention of a young Wonder Woman, but a gift from an alien race. Originally it could turn into any sort of cloaked transportation - plane, boat, jeep, Segway - but the tech broke and got stuck in the plane configuration. Which is also pretty silly. It also got destroyed in the LEGO Movie. Hang on. Okay, we've got it. The backstory of the rebooted Wonder Woman and her jet is actually pretty badass. Not only was it alien tech, but it was technically alive. Not just an AI, but an actual alien being that had taken the form of a plane. Nicknamed Dome, the plane sacrificed itself to save thousands from a tidal wave. Afterwards the intelligence "died" but Wonder Woman could still fly the plane, despite it technically being the equivalent of flying around in a dead body. Because Diana Prince is totally awesome and needs her plane to do awesome stealth missions where she drops down into enemy territory and tears them to shreds.
