10 Things From DC Comics That REALLY Haven't Aged Well

2. DC's Idea To Have Supergirl Date A Horse

Supergirl Comet
DC Comics

Long before Tina Belcher existed, it was Supergirl that had a thing for horses. The story surrounding this Silver age concept here, though, is much more complicated than just a simple case of bestiality.

The horse in question, Comet the Super-Horse, was a part of the Super-Pets team, but before that, Comet actually began life as a centaur named Biron. Back then, Biron was in love with the sorceress Circe, and it was this love of his that led to her accidentally turning him into a full-horse.

Circe compensates for this mistake, however, by then giving Biron Godlike powers. Years later, Biron would assume the name Comet the Super-Horse, and go on to assist in many different adventures.

One, of which, would result in Comet being rewarded with the ability to temporarily turn into a human male, every time a comet passes Earth. During these instances, Biror would then assume the identity of Bronco Bill Starr - a man that Supergirl would become involved with romantically.

Turning Comet into a human obviously justifies the relationship, but it still doesn’t change the fact that he’s still technically a horse. Nevertheless, these events would be erased from continuity following Crisis on Infinite Earths, whereupon a new and somehow even weirder version of Comet would be re-introduced.
