10 Things Marvel Wants You To Forget About The Fantastic Four
6. Reed Shot The Hulk Into Space
Yeah it wasn't SOLELY his decision but considering how thoroughly Marvel swept this under the rug after The Hulk returned to Earth (until Immortal Hulk brought it back up a decade later), I feel it counts.
Reed Richards, despite being the most genius mind in the Marvel universe and teamed up with the other biggest brainy boys in that universe, decided that the only solution to The Hulk was to shoot him into space after he levelled Las Vegas. Oh and he does this with a ship powered by fuel so explosive that, if tampered with or sabotaged, it can reduce an entire city to a crater. But surely THAT won't come back to bite him at all.
Yeah so anyway, Planet Hulk happened and at the end, the ship explodes and kills Hulk's pregnant wife.
Besides World War Hulk, which saw The Hulk air his many grievances with the Marvel Illuminati, there wasn't much in the way of confrontation of the many mistakes Reed and the others made. Writers like the late, great Dwayne McDuffie brought it up later, but the books never really committed to facing his mistakes. Probably because they were so grievous the only way to keep him likeable would be to just pretend Civil War never happened.
