5. Jessica Drew Is Pregnant

Eight months of story-time will have passed between the conclusion of Secret Wars and the opening of the new Marvel Universe, and a lot can happen in eight months -- just look at Spider-Woman. While her ongoing title will still be helmed by Dennis Hopeless and Javier Rodriguez, it's clear from the promotional artwork that there's going to be a major status change for Jessica Drew.

Major comic book publishers have been loath to alter the fundamental dynamics of their characters, preferring to stick to formulas that have proven successful (DC recently caught major flack for refusing to let Batwoman marry her girlfriend in her eponymous comic). The fact that Jessica Drew is undergoing a major -- and permanent -- paradigm shift is encouraging, and the fact that she'll be a mother (or expecting, to start) should make for some unique stories.

As for how Drew will balance being a parent and a hero, who her child's father is, and if the child has powers of its own... fans will have to wait until October for those answers.
