10 Things That Will Never Happen In The DC Cinematic Universe

10. Golden Age Origins

Origin stories are all the rage these days. Each of the first installments of the major Marvel sub-franchises (Iron Man, Thor, Captain America, and Hulk) have been "how it all came to be" yarns, each character more or less accepting the role of hero by the end of the film. Christopher Nolan's Batman Begins may have set the bar highest in terms of superhero origins on film, and Man of Steel kicked off the DC Cinematic Universe with a coming-of-age story for the Big Blue Boy Scout. With the news that a Justice League film will follow Snyder's Batman vs. Superman - which itself will feature the two titular heroes, Wonder Woman, Cyborg, and possibly other future Leaguers - DC and Warner Brothers look to be evading the Marvel formula and diving headlong into their big team-up. Despite this, it's quite clear that many of the heroes involved will get their own origin films somewhere down the line, even if they jump back on the timeline to pre-Justice League years. And while there's certainly no shortage of material from the comics, it's highly unlikely that origin stories from the Golden Age will find any application in this more modernised universe. DC has rebooted their comics continuity several times, each complete with new origin stories, and it's much more likely that we'll see something drawn from the past 30 years than any "true" origins. Golden and Silver Age tales on the whole may not get much playing time, considering the thirst of modern audiences for gritty tragedy.
