10 Things That Will Never Happen In The DC Cinematic Universe

8. Incorporation Of Elseworlds Tales

This one is fairly obvious, but worth a mention nonetheless. Elseworlds is the now-defunct DC imprint that focused on out-of-continuity, alternative takes on classic DC heroes. Most of them are shameless money-grabs, but a handful of the titles are great comics worth reading - and seeing a feature film adaptation of these would be nothing short of awesome. Again - and on the subject of money-grabbing - there's just no way that Elseworlds adaptations will see the light of day anytime in the foreseeable future. DC and Warner Brothers, despite only having produced one film as a part of their shared universe, are clearly putting all of the superhero eggs in that franchise basket. Not only would it be counterintuitive and confusing to non-comic book fans to have a disjointed continuity, but it would jeopardize the kind of capitalization that Marvel and Disney make with each successive film. Still, who doesn't want to see a steampunk-esque Batman kicking ass in Victorian Era Gotham? Who doesn't want to find out what happens when Superman hails from Soviet Russia instead of the good ol' USA? These one-shot graphic novels can be brilliant in their execution precisely because they aren't tied down to an extended continuity, and adapting that kind of thing to a feature film could potentially make for a phenomenal standalone superhero flick.
