Also known as the Matter Threshold and the Electron Road, Boom Tubes are some of the most well-known artefacts not just in the Fourth World, but also the DC Universe as a whole. Described by Orion as stemming "from the waves of the mind", Boom Tubes are powered by the previously mentioned Element X and enable their users to traverse the universe almost instantaneously.

They get their name from the loud booming sound they generate when used, and are usually activated by Mother Boxes and Father Boxes (more on them later). Initially, anyone could travel to Apokolips or New Genesis using advanced spacecraft or their own power, but later stories established that Boom Tubes were the only means to reach the Fourth World.

Furthermore, the cosmic phenomenon adjusts the traveller's size and mass when moving to and from the Sphere of Gods. This is because the New Gods and their worlds are gigantic compared to the rest of the multiverse; so much so, the Earth was stated to be barely able to displace a small lake on New Genesis.
