He tries his best, anyway. Soon after being broken out of Arkham Harley follows The Joker on a plan to murder all of his old henchman, not realising that he plans to kill Harley herself as the punchline to this long, bloody set-up. Thankfully she figures out his scheme in time to shoot The Joker in the shoulder and escape with her life, leading to a whole new Harley Quinn. ...Sort of. She still spent a while as an insane Joker obsessive with a seemingly never-ending stock of circus make-up, but after getting her parole she spends a brief period as part of Suicide Squad spin-off Secret Six, before quitting and moving to a new, sunny locale. Namely Amazon, the deserted island where Wonder Woman comes from. Thus began the brief period, as covered in the series Countdown, where Harley Quinn was genuinely reformed. The warrior lifestyle suited her, as did living on an island with only women; she befriends the former Catwoman replacement Holly Robinson, meets Mary Marvel, gets super powers, and then realises the whole thing is a ruse by a New Gods villain, which spoils it.
