As of 2014 in DC's New 52 continuity, Lex Luthor is now actually an active member of the Justice League! The move occurred after Luthor had defeated a powerful version of himself from Earth-3 and subsequently saved Superman's life by removing a piece of Kryptonite left in his brain by the Crime Syndicate member Atomica. He also managed to discover Bruce Wayne's identity as Batman by learning of his connection with Dick Grayson. As a result - and much to the dissatisfaction of Superman - Luthor managed to secure a place in the Justice League. He went on to build a new watchtower for them and recruited the powerful Shazam on to the team. Exactly how long he will remain on the side of good remains to be seen.
