Whilst Mr Freeze's origin story is fairly simple to get your head around nowadays, with the comics and most other media committing to the basic premise that originated with the Animated Series scientist messes up cryogenic experiment, probably kills dying wife, goes mad and has to be cold always. Except for the Arkham games. They mess everything up. The interview tapes from Arkham City contradict the events that would happen in Arkham Origins, a game made later (and by a different developer, notably), but set before the events of that earlier game. Got all of that? Good, it gets more confusing from there. City has basically the same Animated Series backstory, but Origins complicates and contradicts that by suggesting Fries was working on cryogenics as part of a deal made with another scientist who would work on a cure for his dying wife, with the good doctor being the only one who held up his half of the bargain.
