6. She Renamed Herself Ghost-Spider
After Spider-Gwen Volume 2, a series of events made living in her universe unideal. Looking for other places to stay, Gwen made her way into the main 616 Marvel universe and shortly afterward decided to stay and live there alongside that universe’s version of Peter Parker.
After helping Spider-Man take down the Swarm, both Spider characters were surrounded by the public asking who Gwen was. And it's at this moment that she realizes she can't call herself Spider-Woman anymore, as there are already a variety of different Spider-Women in this universe.
Here, she thinks of the possible new codenames she could give herself. Feeling that death loves Gwen Stacy, she calls herself Ghost-Spider to the crowd of people, even though there already is a Ghost-Spider from Earth-11638. So, she’s not being very original here.
While Spider-Man thought it was a weird name, Gwen stuck with it, and Ghost-Spider would be her codename moving forward, both in-universe and in promotional material.
