10 Things You Didn't Know About The Mighty Thor

3. Jane Was A Better Wielder Of Mjolnir

The Mighty Thor Jane Foster Death
Marvel Comics

Maybe because of her humanity, or in spite of it, Jane Foster had a stronger connection to Mjolnir than Odinson, and as such, she was able to wield the hammer in ways that the original Thor could not. Thor would have to spin the hammer and hurl it in a particular direction while holding onto the strap to fly and land to make any corrections in directions and speed. The Mighty Thor is able to change speed and direction in mid-flight, effectively steering Mjolnir exactly where she needs to go.

In Mighty Thor # 3, Jane is able to create lightning without being in direct connection with the hammer. She still needs the hammer to bring forth the full fury of the control of weather, but Jane appears to possess some measure of electrokinesis within her natural Thor form.

Mjolnir had such a strong connection to Jane Foster that the God Tempest, the Elder God that lives inside the hammer and gives it its sentience, impersonated her to protect her identity from discovery. This is something that the hammer said it would need a century of rest to attempt again. To expend this much effort pointed to a very strong connection between hammer and Thunderer.
