10 Thor Graphic Novels You Must Read Before You Die

10. Thor: The Mighty Avenger

Marvel Comics

When the MCU was building up to the release of Thor: The Dark World, Marvel Comics issued the release of a special edition series of comics that would help introduce the character to those unfamiliar with him.

The story saw Thor banished from Asgard for reasons unknown to himself, (in a similar fashion to the first Thor film) and in his attempts to learn why, he teams up with other Avengers, such as Iron Man and Captain America, to save New York. It features some recognisable threats, such as Fin Fang Foom, the Sub Mariner, and Loki.

However, unlike the mainstream Thor series of today and of the time, The Mighty Avenger saw Thor in a more light-hearted setting, and chose to focus on less of world ending events, and more on the relationship between Thor and Jane Foster.

Overall, the comic book arc, while not being essential to fans of Thor, was a great introduction to the character, and served as a way to develop his character into the one many know and love today.
