10 Times Doctor Strange Outsmarted Everyone

It might sound weird to say that selling your soul is a viable way to outsmart people, but when you consider the daily life-threatening antics of the Sorcerer Supreme, it's also not all that surprising. Doctor Strange has sold his soul to a whole variety of gods and old ones over the years, and this backlog of soul debt has one interesting result: nobody is likely to get it.

Because between all these various gods, there are too many claims for any single deity to take his soul, meaning that - so long as at least two factions both have claims to Stephen's soul - he is safe from all of them.

Interestingly, this is only directly addressed once, when the 2013 New Avengers series shows that Strange is unable to sell his soul at The Sinner's Market, as they are aware he is conning a series of powerful entities out of their powers and belongings in exchange for 'his soul'.

It's not a perfect science - especially as it's heavily implied Strange no longer has much of his soul left - but it is a pretty smart way to gain some serious power without having to spend your entire afterlife with C'Thulu.
