10 Times Marvel Went Too Far

1. Nazi Cap - Captain America: Steve Rogers #1

Rogue Ultimatum
Marvel Comics

We can stand around all day debating which of these entries is the most egregious creatively, morally, or what have you, but there is only one moment where the entire internet stood up and unanimously pointed a collective middle finger toward the house of ideas - and that is Nazi Cap.

Even if you were in no way interested in comics or Marvel at the time, you KNOW this reveal from how unanimously panned it was the moment it hit shelves. Every fandom of every stripe had their own spin on it within days, cementing 2017's biggest comics-related WTF moment as a true meme for the ages.

Now, unlike Loeb or Millar, Nick Spencer - as shown with his run on Spider-Man - CAN be a damn good writer. But this is the perfect example of just flat out not thinking your creative decisions through or not running them by the right people.

Bottom line, you DO NOT make a character created by two Jewish men as an anti-fascist symbol into a Nazi. You just don't do that. Ever.
