10 Times Passing The Superhero Torch Was For The Better
9. Ant-Man
The MCU could have just played it safe and settled on Hank Pym being the main Ant-Man for the MCU. Hank is smart, resourceful and is involved in some of the most iconic stories that Marvel has published.
However, we already have the bumbling scientist that explored the journey of mental health with characters like Tony Stark, so, Marvel went with the lesser-known Scott Lang. Scott is a petty thief with a heart of gold, with his daughter Cassie the centre of his attention.
Lang is easily a fan favourite when it comes to the Avengers roster and one of the reasons for that is Paul Rudd. Without Rudd’s comedic timing, Ant-Man wouldn’t be as memorable as Captain America. The actor makes Ant-Man a great character by bouncing off his on-screen castmates like a ball on a tennis court, making Scott Lang’s light-heartedness counter everyone else’s stoic attitude.
Scott’s inclusion in the “Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes” cartoon also made him the perfect candidate to be an unlikely hero as he used the Ant-Man suit to look after his daughter.
