Not that colossal mess-ups are a rare thing within the extended Bat-Family. During the Zero Hour event, Dick Grayson - then a ways into his Nightwing phase - revealed a startling revelation from his early days in the role of the original Robin. Not long after Harvey Dent had that little incident with the acid and started practising his coin flipping, Two-Face kidnapped Batman and District Attorney Meaney, who took office after the last guy started flipping coins and kidnapping people. Robin was faced with the pair strung up in gallows and given the choice of which of them to save. Except Dick's a smarty pants, and reminds Two-Face that his gimmick is luck instead of choice, and with the flip of a coin it's decided Meaney's the one to be hanged. That's when the young Robin plays his trump card, flinging a batarang (see, it's not that hard, Barbara) to cut the noose. Except beneath the gallows was the West River, so instead of being hung Meaney slowly drowns instead. And it's all Robin's fault (sort of).
