10 Times Superman Ruined Lex Luthor’s Life

9. Letting Him Leave The Justice League - Justice League: No Justice

It goes pretty much without saying that Superman wasn't exactly stoked when Lex Luthor joined the Justice League. In fact, the two spent most of their time still at odds, despite the fact that they were finally working for the same team.

But also, Luthor's time in DC's biggest hero team did appear to be helping him learn a proper moral code. Even though the pair didn't get on, it seemed clear to Superman that, despite his past, the megalomaniac was legitimately trying to be a better person.

And so - as weird as this might sound - it's entirely frustrating to see the Man of Steel basically give zero care to Lex leaving the team. While it's likely this is because the billionaire is besties with Martian Manhunter, who also couldn't convince him to stay, Superman's antagonistic relationship with Luthor is exactly what makes his opinion so important.

Because Lex leaves as he's convinced he's destined to be a villain, so the only person who could convince him otherwise is likely the man who hates him most. Were Supes to have reassured him, there's a pretty good chance Metropolis' richest man would have stuck with the side of good. But that would have involved Superman getting to punch him significantly less, so you can maybe understand why he didn't.
